For the non-racer: support team, family members, well wishers, what activities does your event and the community at large offer?
Fun team relay sprints on Friday, Beginners 2 mile event on Saturday, Paddle clinics on Friday & Sunday, camping, hiking & mountain biking at the State Park, antique stores in downtown, and fishing.
What are the race courses like and the waterways they take place on?
Taylorsville Lake - 2, 6, & 10 mile courses with start/finish at State Park boat Ramp that is reserved exclusively for the event. Flat water racing, with only boat wakes that disturb the lake.
What will paddlers love about your event? Why should they come?
Well organized with multiple length events for paddlers of any ability and any human powered craft. Excellent for pure novices as well as elite racers, based on people that have committed to attend.
What are the paddling conditions like?
Flat water on a lake with wooded shorelines
Where can people get last minute gear of if they forget an item? Leashes, paddles, hydration packs, etc?
On site from Southern Paddlesports.
Are rental craft available and if so from who?
Rental kayaks and SUP’s are available.
Where can people stay? Do you have a list of accommodations that people can choose from? Hotel, Campground, etc
What great local watering hole (eateries) do you recommend?
Fiesta Mexicana, Hometown Pizza, Fiesta Brava, and Tanglewood Golf course for live music and adult beverages on Friday & Saturday night of the event weekend.
After race day, why should paddlers stick around?
Great awards dinner, enjoy the area, or to attend a paddle clinic on Sunday.
