The 1st Annual Drakes Creek Watershed Festival will kick off on October 8! The Explore Kentucky Initiative is proud to announce that we will be partnering with great folks at the Kentucky Division of Water, Upper Green RIver Watershed Watch, Nat's Outdoors, and Meijer to host this event.
Registration starts at 7:30am, and the first 40 participants will have the opportunity to do a free canoe or kayak paddle from Romanza Johnson Park to Phil Moore Park along the beautiful waterway of Drakes Creek and learn about learn about their local watershed. EKI’s very own Shara Sumner, an American Canoe Association Level II Kayak Instructor, and others will provide motivation and paddle stroke technique as folks move down the water.
Following the float, the Watershed Festival kick-off will take place at Phil Moore Park from 12:00pm-3:00pm. Everyone is welcome! Participants who complete their Watershed Festival Passport by activities such as learning about the ACA , paddlesports safety, games, and face painting will be entered to win a free Kayak courtesy of Meijer, free Harlan 30-Liter Waterproof Pack courtesy of
Cabela', and free Life Jackets courtesy of the Upper Green River Watershed Watch.
