The Spoke Easy: Everyone Is Welcome

Photo: Gerry Seavo James

The Spoke Easy is the newest addition to one of the hippest small towns in Kentucky. Located in downtown Campbellsville, TSE is the city's first bike shop in a couple of decades. The outdoor recreational scene is growing in the area because of the great trails at Green River Lake State Park, making this the perfect time for a bike shop to open.

Scott Hess is the owner and mastermind behind the business. He is an avid rider and has traveled the country in search of adventure via two wheels. To prepare for opening the shop, Scott left a position in geology and spent a month in Oregon at the United Bicycle Institute learning the tricks of the trade about bike repair and running a shop. Scott already knew a lot about today's parts and mechanical systems, but the school was an extra step, preparing him to work on 40 year old bikes and rare parts that require a special touch. TSE is now taking repairs and would be glad to help you diagnose your bike’s issues. They also we will be one of the stockiest of our revamped EKI gear line.

In the shop you will find a full line of bikes--mountain, road, hybrid, kids and every bike in between. Along the shop walls you will find all the accessories and parts to keep you rolling and enjoying the ride. TSE carries Giant Bicycles, a brand that offers a bike for everyone on every budget.

“I chose Giant Bicycles because of the lineup of bicycle, parts and accessories,” explained Hess. “They have products that fit nearly every budget and the quality for that price is far beyond what other brands can produce. I am extremely happy to bring them to Campbellsville and get people excited about riding a bike.”

TSE plans to expand their building size in the future. The current location is just a small start to get people on a bike and get the area to realize what a cycling gem they have right in their backyard. The newer, larger location is being currently being designed and developed with hopes of being open by next winter. The new location will be much larger, will carry more inventory, and will feature an attached bar/pub/eatery.

“What we are creating is a hive for culture and community. Biking makes up a large part of this, but our goal is to make a family friendly community center that serves as a home base for those who enjoy being outside, whether they are local or merely passing through,” Scott stated. The locals are excited about the opening of the shop and all the opportunity it brings to the town. Expect to see a lot of fun and exciting happenings come out of The Spoke Easy.
