Explore Kentucky’s Ancient Forest is a program hosted by the Explore Kentucky Initiative and partner organization, Kentucky Natural Lands Trust at Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves' Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve. This incredible 5 mile hike features the largest old growth forest in the state of Kentucky, with trees dating to the late 1600's! Blanton is also home to scenic overlooks, soaring cliff lines, rock shelters, and pristine mountain streams that contain the Blackside Dace, a threatened species of fish. Lace up your hiking boots, dust off your camera, and join us to learn more about this beautiful wilderness area on Pine Mountain in eastern Kentucky!

Challenging 5 mile trail through 3,509+ acres of old-growth and second-growth forestland.
Lunch break at Knobby Rock on Pine Mountain with views of the Cumberland Plateau and Black Mountain.
