Outdoor Afro- KY Hook & Cook

Learn how to catch, clean, and cook your own fish at the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources’ Hook and Cook Outdoor Afro -KY workshop at the Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area. This event is family-friendly and perfect for folks who are new to fishing. The fee for this event is $10 per person and must be paid in advance here: http://bit.ly/HookCook. However, the event is free for children under the age of 16. 

During the Hook & Cook we will cover the basics of fishing in a classroom setting, and learn everything you need to know about equipment, set-up, and how to catch certain species of fish. (Please note that during this classroom session children will have the opportunity to participate in fishing games and activities in a separate space) Then, we will provide a lunch and go over how to properly clean and cook fish. Then, we will have some time set aside to fish Otter Creek and practice your new skills! 

Equipment will be provided. Everyone 16 and older is required to purchase a valid Kentucky fishing license (1-day licenses are available for $7).
