On the weekend of April 21, Cumberland, KY will host the second IG2BYITM (Its Good To Be Young in the Mountains), a collaboration of Higher Ground, Appalshop and STAY.
Identified as “A conference that feels like a festival,” the weekend is a youth-led celebration of Appalachian heritage, combined with workshops and space for participants to speak on their hopes, fears and concerns for the Appalachian region.
EKI is excited to take part in the conference, with founder Gerry James joining Megan Epperson of Pine Mountain Settlement School and Preston Lacy of Kentucky Natural Land Trust; as a panelist at the Becoming a Better Steward for our Appalachian Mountains workshop. (Saturday, 4-5 p.m.). EKI will also be leading a stewardship and hike alongside the Kentucky Natural Land Trust (Sunday, 12:30 p.m.).
